Umbral Character: Iseult

Between 2012 and 2014 I worked on a project whose working title in Spanish was Umbral. I made a plethora of concept sketches, wrote an extended script and set out to model both characters and environments. And then terrible 2015 happened and I had to stop work entirely to deal with a very complicated family situation.

Recently I started updating my website and decided to hunt down the files to see if there was anything in there worth rescuing. I'm still fond of the models I created but unfortunately the rigs were done in the now defunct Softimage XSI software and would need to be redone from scratch to be usable in animation.

Publishing these model renders is really about letting go of a project that once mattered dearly but whose story I no longer believe in as the years have passed. It's a funny thing looking back on something that was once of paramount importance and which I now realize I no longer agree with as a premise.

I handled the character models, the clothing and the first look development tests in Renderman. The furniture came off Turbosquid if I'm not mistaken, the rigs were created by the astoundingly talented Mauricio Flores.
